A heart-warming taste of Chile







Three wines. Three regions. Three styles. One grape in common. 
Syrah, a grape variety that has been growing in importance in Chile over the last years.

Name: Polkura Syrah 2009    
Grape Blend - 97% Syrah, 1% Grenache, 1% Viognier, 1% Tempranillo
Country:  Chile
Appellation: Colchagua Valley
ABV: 13%
Tasting notes:
Deep claret in colour with violet hues on the rim. On the nose it is concentrated, revealing aromas of rich and mature fruit such as black cherries with a touch of vanilla, cinnamon, pepper and almonds. Full bodied, complex and elegant on the palate with notes of red fruit and a touch of eucalyptus. Long and pleasant finish with hints of cherries, flowers and spices.
Pairing: Roast or grilled beef or lamb.

Grape Blend - 60% Carmenere, 40% Syrah
Country:  Chile
Appellation: Elqui Valley
ABV: 14%
Tasting notes:
Intense and concentrated ruby in colour. Delicious notes of fresh blackcurrant, dry strawberries and vanilla on the nose. Light to medium bodied with spicy notes of green pepper and ripe fruit such as black cherries and blackcurrant. Round and balanced with a gentle finish.
Pairing: Braised venison, goulash, beef empanadas.

Grape Blend - 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Syrah
Country:  Chile
Appellation: Maipo Valley
ABV: 14%
Tasting notes:
Deep violet in colour. Quite complex on the nose revealing aromas of plums and strawberries with underlying notes of green peppers, hints of cloves and cinnamon. Ripe red fruit attack that opens up to subtle yet gripping structure. Round with a good level of acidity, medium-long fruity and pleasant finish.
Pairing: Tuna steaks, grilled vegetables, ragù sauce and pasta,
